Read the catalog notes

A foundation label says "neutral medium" and means it sincerely. The house now holds 14,692 shades across 641 products from 169 brands, and has read the colour of 14,642 of them in CIE L*a*b*, converted to ITA° — the open dermatological standard, not a licensed ink system. Of the 8,747 shades whose brand names an undertone, 5,327 read as a different undertone off the brand's own swatch: 61 percent. Pick the swatch closest to your skin and the house matches by colour distance within your undertone band, and shows you both words where they disagree. A shade listed without a reading is one the house holds but has not yet seen — that is a different sentence from "it does not exist", and the difference is not yours to guess at.

Brands by shade range

Every brand below is held with its shades read in CIE L*a*b* off the brand’s own swatch. Where the brand names an undertone and the reading disagrees, the page says so.

Measurements are recorded with their source. A brand’s own published number is a claim; a number the house took with a tape in hand under a published protocol is verified. Both are stored, and where they disagree the difference is the point.
