Dresses & skirts

A dress can close perfectly and still feel wrong. Where the waist lands, how the back is cut and what happens when you sit deserve as much attention as the size label.

Search the published details

Find your starting point.

Search listed sizes and published dress lengths. Lengths apply only to the reference size shown; waist placement and drape are not predicted.

What these details tell you

Where marked “Style listing,” retailer details were manually reviewed from official product pages; these are not live size inventories. Numeric boot measurements describe the stated reference size only. A wide calf is separate from a wide shoe. Turn on the availability filter to exclude unconfirmed stock.

These are retailer-published options and measurements. Size labels differ by brand, and a published detail does not establish fit in every dimension.

Look beyond the label

Let the dress meet you where you are.

Where the waist lands

Find the seam on a dress you enjoy wearing. Compare its shoulder-to-waist distance with the new garment, using the same starting point. A drop waist is a design choice; decide whether it lands where you want it.

02 / The fit detail

The length you want

For skirts, compare waistband-to-hem length. For dresses, check where the retailer starts its length measurement. A model’s height helps provide context, but it does not tell you where the hem will land on you.

Coverage and movement

Look at the back, armholes, lining and slit—not just the front photograph. Fabric composition is useful, but it cannot tell you by itself how a dress will drape or cling.

The fitting-room check

Give it a little real life.

  1. Sit down and check the hem and slit.
  2. Reach forward and lift your arms; notice where the waist seam moves.
  3. Try it with the underwear or bra you intend to wear, and check the back in a mirror.

A question to take with you

Ask for the missing detail.

Could you share the garment’s shoulder-to-waist length, full length and lining details for my size? Where do you start each measurement?

You can use this when contacting a retailer. A body size chart and a finished product measurement answer different questions.
