The measurement that matters.

From the high point of your shoulder, next to your neck, straight down the front to your natural waist — the crease when you bend sideways.

Read the catalog notes

Long-waisted means the distance from your shoulder to your natural waist is longer than the pattern assumed — your torso is long relative to your legs. It is why shirts ride up when you raise your arms, why waistbands sit above your actual waist, why dresses hit wrong and bodysuits pull at the shoulder. The measurement is high point shoulder, straight down the front, to the crease where you bend sideways. Brands almost never print it. The house does.

Measurements are recorded with their source. A brand’s own published number is a claim; a number the house took with a tape in hand under a published protocol is verified. Both are stored, and where they disagree the difference is the point.
