Start with what matters to you

Shorts that cover what you choose

A short inseam on a taller model may give you different coverage. Choose the hem you want on your body, with enough room to move.

Three things to try

A closer look at the fit.

  1. Use shorts you own as a reference. Compare 5-, 6- and 7-inch inseams as starting examples; a regular-length style may work even when you usually buy petite. None of these lengths guarantees thigh or knee coverage.
  2. Check rise, thigh room and leg opening along with inseam. Longer fabric alone does not prevent riding up or tightness when you sit.
  3. Mark the desired hem, then sit, walk and use stairs. Choose the coverage you enjoy; your body does not need to change to deserve comfortable clothes.

Make the question yours

Shorter length. Your choice of room.

Choose a starting preference, then copy these questions into a retailer message. The selections help you ask for details; they do not calculate a size or predict coverage.

These are comparison examples, not a petite sizing rule. Mark each length on shorts you own, measuring along the inner seam from the crotch seam. Try them sitting and standing. Rise, thigh room and your proportions affect the result.

You can also select and copy the text directly. Nothing is sent to a retailer by this tool.
